Blade is a cheesy action vampire movie and it is great. It starts off by introducing us to our mocho bad-ass protagonist simply known as Blade played by Wesley Snipes. The whole movie is filled with obscure futuristic weaponry and technology that is really appealing to the eye. What’s not very appealing to the eye though is the special effects. They stick out like a sore thumb when there used and look extremely unnatural and animated. This doesn’t detract much from the overall bad-ass action movie and is to be expected from any action flick as ambitious as this one in the year 1998. It is also packet to the brim with over the top fight scenes of blade taking out 10 to 20 guys by himself without even breaking a sweat. I must say though if you have a phobia of needles you should probably stay away from this movie it seems like many times throughout the movie someone is getting poked or stabbing themselves with a nasty looking syringe. Overall I think Blade is a great movie to watch after a long day and you just want to turn your brain off and watch a very stylish mindless beat em up movie.
